Start Farming Instead of Unnecessary Hunger Protests, Gov. Soludo Tells Residents
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has called on citizens to adopt agriculture as a means of eradicating hunger instead of engaging in unnecessary protests. Launching the “Farm to Feed Campaign” in Amansea, Awka North local government area, Governor Soludo emphasized the importance of agricultural initiatives in combating hunger and advancing the state’s development.
“We are here as part of our response to the issues surrounding hunger. While others are protesting, Anambra state is not. I thank our youths and everyone going about their businesses. We are here to take positive steps to move the state and country forward,” Soludo stated.
He highlighted the administration’s efforts, noting the distribution of over one million palm and coconut seedlings, with a target of ten million seedlings before the end of his term. “The farm-to-feed campaign is a partnership to end hunger within the next 12 months. The citizens, including public servants, have a role to play. If everyone starts producing, the pressure on food prices will reduce,” he added.
Governor Soludo urged residents to turn every vacant piece of land into a farm and stressed the importance of hard work, resilience, and turning challenges into opportunities.
The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, praised Soludo’s efforts, describing him as an Apostle of the late Dr. Michael Okpara, former Premier of the defunct Eastern Region. Udeze commended Soludo’s agricultural reforms and called on affluent citizens to support these initiatives through heavy investments. He assured that the State Legislature would continue to back Soludo’s agricultural revolution through relevant bills and motions.
