“Native Doctors Deceiving Youths into Crime” – Soludo
Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has raised alarm over the role of native doctors in luring young people into criminal activities such as drug trafficking, cyber fraud, and kidnapping. Speaking in Awka, the governor accused traditional spiritualists of deceiving youths with false promises of supernatural protection, leading many into a life of crime.
Soludo lamented that thousands of Nigerian youths are now suffering in foreign prisons due to the misguided assurances of native doctors. He explained that these spiritualists create charms, known as *Oke-Ite*, which they claim can make criminals invisible to security agents. However, when caught, the young offenders face harsh legal consequences. He added that after failed attempts at drug smuggling and cyber fraud, many of these individuals resort to kidnapping in search of quick wealth.
Determined to put an end to this trend, Soludo revealed that the state government has launched a crackdown, with over 30 suspected native doctors and pastors currently under investigation. As a result, many have fled the state, while those who depended on their charms now fear their supposed powers have been rendered useless.
The governor further disclosed that several *Oke-Ite* pots have been confiscated and will undergo forensic analysis. He warned that if any are found to contain traces of human blood, their owners will face severe legal consequences.
Soludo reiterated his commitment to transforming Anambra into a thriving commercial and industrial hub. He called on all residents, regardless of tribe or religion, to support efforts to build a peaceful and law-abiding society where legitimate businesses can flourish.
