Anambra Native Doctors Rally Against Soludo, Vow to Block Reelection

A gathering of over 300 native doctors from across Anambra State took place yesterday, where traditional healers condemned Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s actions against their profession and vowed to oppose his reelection bid on November 8, 2025.

Meeting at a secluded location, the group conducted prayers and rituals in response to what they described as the governor’s “unwarranted interference” in their activities. Governor Soludo had recently intensified efforts against cultism and social vices, a move the native doctors claim unfairly targets them.

High Priest Ikele, who led the gathering, accused the government of unjustly cracking down on traditional healers. “We are not cultists or criminals,” Ikele stated. “We are traditional healers who have served our communities for generations. Governor Soludo’s attempts to stigmatize and suppress our work will not succeed.”

The native doctors pledged to continue their spiritual efforts to resist what they called the governor’s “evil intentions” and prevent his reelection.

While the state government has yet to issue an official response, sources close to the governor’s office maintain that the administration remains steadfast in its anti-cultism drive. “Genuine native doctors have nothing to fear, as their freedom of worship and religion remains intact under the Soludo government,” a source said.

The governor’s campaign against cultism and related social vices has drawn mixed reactions, with supporters praising the initiative while critics, including the native doctors, argue that it unfairly targets traditional practices.
