Pregnant woman dies after reportedly falling while fleeing runaway cow at burial in Anambra
A pregnant woman has died after she reportedly fell while attempting to escape from a cow that broke loose during a burial ceremony in Oba, Anambra State.
The incident occurred when the animal, said to be part of the burial activities, suddenly became uncontrollable and caused panic among attendees. In the confusion, several people ran in different directions.
According to a Facebook post by a friend of the deceased, Chinazor Peace Anyadiegwu, the woman had been seen earlier that day visiting a shop and speaking with her child. Hours later, news of her collapse reached acquaintances.
The post described how the situation unfolded rapidly after the cow reportedly broke free, triggering a stampede-like reaction. The woman, who was heavily pregnant at the time, is said to have fallen while trying to get to safety.
Her friend mourned her death online, questioning the sudden loss and noting that she leaves behind her children.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
