JUST IN: APC Council Chairmanship Candidates Emerge Ahead of Lagos LG Polls
In preparation for the upcoming July 12 local government elections across Lagos State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its primary elections, with several incumbent council chairmen securing their party’s tickets for a second term.
Moyosore Ogunlewe, the current chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area (LGA), emerged unopposed in the primary held at the party’s secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja, after other aspirants stepped down in his favor. Similarly, Usman Hamzat, chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye LGA, clinched the ticket to contest in the forthcoming polls.
A number of other sitting chairmen and new aspirants also won the party’s nomination. These include Olalekan Aroyewu of Igbogbo, Rossini Oluyemisi of Ojokoro, Akindipe Olamilekan of Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Okeowo Oluremi of Ifelodun, Yusuf Sule of Surulere, and Ogidan Azeez of Coker-Aguda.
Tola Oyedele of Agboyi-Ketu, Taoheed Taiwo of Ejigbo, Muibi Alade of Lagos Island-East, Sanusi Ismail of Amuwo-Odofin, Rufai Muibat of Ojo, Taiwo Oyekan of Lagos Island, Wale Ameen of Ikorodu-North, and Samsideen Agunbiade of Eti-Osa East also secured their tickets.
Other successful candidates include Hunkpe Babatunde of Badagry, Sura Olayemi Animashaun of Epe, Olasoju Adebayo Babatunde of Isolo, Sesan Olowa of Ibeju-Lekki, Anomo Adewale of Ikosi-Ejirin, Ibrahim Rauf of Badagry-West, Ladega Adedayo of Ikorodu, and Rasak Oloyede of Oriade.
Also on the list are Abiodun Akinola of Orile-Agege, Ashimi Lateef of Shomolu, Bada Abolanle of Ikosi-Isheri, Oloyede Kehinde of Oshodi-Isolo, Sunday Benson of Imota, Kazeem Sulaimon of Ikorodu-West, Sebanjo Idowu of Apapa, Ajose Peter of Olorunda LCDA, Ismail Monsuru of Eredo, Opeyemi Akindele of Mosan-Okunola, Agbaje Abiodun of Ayobo-Ipaja, and Akinpelu Ibrahim of Alimosho.
Rounding off the list are Jimoh Olawale Saliu of Apapa-Iganmu, Bukola Omofe of Bariga, Aruwe Tubosun of Mushin, Olusegun Odumbaku of Ojodu, Balogun Idris of Egbe-Idimu, Akinsanya of Igando-Ikotun, Hakeem Dauda of Ikeja, Moyo Adebanjo of Onigbongbo, Jakande Lawal of Odi-Olowo, Tunde Azeez of Agege, and Omooba Adeola of Eti-Osa.
The primaries mark a key step for the APC as it prepares to contest all 20 LGAs and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state.
