Rivers State APC Suspends Fubara Over Court Action
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State has suspended a party member, Fubara Dagogo, after he filed a lawsuit challenging the party’s planned convention.
The suspension was announced by the Ward 4 executive committee, which cited alleged misconduct and actions considered detrimental to the party.
Dagogo had approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking to stop the APC’s forthcoming convention. In his suit, he argued that he was excluded from contesting the position of National Vice-Chairman (South-South) despite paying ₦5.1 million for the nomination form.
He further claimed that the party did not provide him with the form after payment. As part of his legal demands, Dagogo asked the court to halt the South-South zonal congress, declare him eligible to contest, nullify any election conducted without his participation, and award ₦100 million in damages.
In response, the Ward 4 executive committee in Bonny announced his indefinite suspension. The decision was communicated by ward chairman Richard Ibani, following a meeting held on March 16.
A statement signed by the ward secretary, Donald Jumbo, and 21 committee members said the action was based on alleged violations of the party’s constitution.
The committee accused Dagogo of engaging in anti-party activities, breaching party rules, disobeying directives, and making statements considered damaging to the party’s image. It said the conduct contravened provisions of Article 21.2 of the APC Constitution (2022, as amended).
According to the statement, the suspension takes immediate effect, with a request for endorsement by the state secretariat.
