EPL: Ex-Super Eagles Midfielder Seyi Olofinjana Gets New Role at Chelsea
Chelsea FC has appointed former Super Eagles midfielder Seyi Olofinjana to a key talent management role focusing on Africa, as reported by The Athletic.
In this new position, Olofinjana will be responsible for making recruitment recommendations across the African continent. He will work closely with a newly-appointed scout dedicated to covering Africa.
At 44 years old, Olofinjana also serves as the executive director of Imperial FC, a club in Nigeria’s third division. His expertise in talent development is well-regarded, having overseen the careers of notable players such as Taiwo Awoniyi, who joined Liverpool in 2015 and now plays for Nottingham Forest.
Historically, Chelsea has seen great success with African players like Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, and John Obi Mikel, although these stars were typically recruited after establishing themselves in Europe.
