Chelsea Submit Official Bid for Victor Osimhen

Chelsea have officially submitted a bid for Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, marking a significant move in what has been a lengthy transfer saga. The London club has made an offer to the player’s agent, Roberto Calenda, with formal negotiations with Napoli expected to commence shortly.

This development follows Osimhen’s expressed desire to leave the Italian side, raising anticipation over whether a deal can be reached before the transfer window closes on August 31.

In a related transfer, Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku is close to joining Napoli. The Belgian striker arrived in Naples for his medical examination on Wednesday and is set to finalize his contract soon.

Meanwhile, Osimhen recently turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, as confirmed by his agent on social media. Calenda stated that the Nigerian international is focused on continuing his career in Europe.

Chelsea, determined to secure a top-tier striker before the deadline, have also identified Brentford’s Ivan Toney as a potential alternative if the Osimhen deal falls through.

Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, has been in outstanding form, scoring 76 goals in 133 appearances. His performances earned him the title of African Footballer of the Year and an eighth-place finish in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

The striker remains under contract with Napoli until June 2026, with a release clause set at €130 million. Chelsea is not alone in pursuing Osimhen; Paris Saint-Germain is also vying for his signature, having previously reached a preliminary agreement with the player earlier this summer.

As the situation develops, Osimhen continues to train separately from the rest of the Napoli squad.
