Victor Osimhen’s Transfer to Chelsea Collapses, Stays at Napoli
Victor Osimhen’s highly anticipated move from Napoli to Chelsea fell through on transfer deadline day, leaving the Nigerian forward’s future uncertain. Despite intense negotiations, the two clubs failed to reach an agreement, with the deal collapsing in the final hours.
Reports suggest that discussions between Chelsea and Napoli hit a stumbling block, as revealed by renowned Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano. “No agreement between Victor Osimhen and Chelsea even after a new proposal was presented two hours ago. Deal completely off for Victor Osimhen,” Romano posted on social media, confirming that the Chelsea delegation had already left Naples.
Osimhen, who had been seeking a lucrative wage package exceeding £300,000 per week, was left in a difficult position. Chelsea reportedly remained interested in continuing talks, but their efforts were ultimately unfruitful. The Premier League club now considers the deal off the table.
In a parallel development, Napoli had been negotiating with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli for Osimhen’s transfer. While Osimhen reportedly agreed to personal terms with Al-Ahli, including a staggering €30 million per season, the deal collapsed due to Napoli’s demand for an additional €5 million in bonuses, on top of the €80 million fee initially offered by the Saudi club.
With his relationship with Napoli coach Antonio Conte reportedly strained, and the club unwilling to keep him on the first-team squad without a significant salary, Osimhen’s options now appear limited. There remains a slim possibility of a late move to Saudi Arabia, as the transfer window in that region remains open until September 2.
