Controversy Surrounds Mr. Ibu’s Donations: Adopted Daughter, Sons Detained

Lagos police have invited Chioma Jasmine Okafor, the adopted daughter of the ailing actor Mr. Ibu, for questioning amid accusations that she withdrew N300 million from his donation account. This development follows an Instagram post by actress Doris Ogala, who claimed that Stella Maris, Mr. Ibu’s wife, initiated the arrest of Jasmine and the actor’s sons.

According to Ogala, Stella accused Jasmine of diverting the funds intended for Mr. Ibu’s treatment to purchase a new house for herself. The actress asserted that the family contributed only 2.5 million for Stella’s upkeep, challenging the legitimacy of the accusations.

In response to the unfolding situation, Aminat Mayegun, the police spokesperson at the Lagos FCID annex, confirmed the detention of the individuals involved. She stated that the police are exploring potential charges but revealed that the family is seeking a settlement, complicating the investigation.

Mr. Ibu, known for his comedic roles, has been grappling with an undisclosed illness that led to seven surgeries and the eventual amputation of his leg. Nigerians rallied to support the actor, contributing funds for his medical treatments. Stella, however, alleges that Jasmine misappropriated these donations, adding another layer of controversy to the unfolding drama.

As the investigation continues, questions arise about the family dynamics and the handling of the funds intended for Mr. Ibu’s recovery. The police are diligently working to unravel the truth behind these allegations.
