Clarification: Mr. Ibu’s Family Denies Amputation Rumors
The family of veteran actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, has refuted circulating rumors suggesting the amputation of his second leg. Contrary to misinformation, the family clarified the ongoing situation through an official statement on Mr. Ibu’s Instagram page.
The initial reports surfaced on November 6, stating that the actor had undergone seven surgeries, leading to the amputation of one leg. However, recent rumors indicated a further deterioration of Mr. Ibu’s health, accompanied by claims of a second leg amputation.
The family’s statement addressed these speculations, emphasizing that the recent surgical procedure was an extension on the same leg. This decision was made due to the inadequacy of the initial amputation in improving the actor’s health condition. The statement clarified that Mr. Ibu’s ailment is attributed to a persistent clotting of blood in his leg, dispelling any notions of diabetes being the cause.
The family urged colleagues from the entertainment industry and fans to refrain from spreading unverified information and instead directed them to offer prayers and support for the actor’s recovery.
In their statement, the family highlighted that Mr. Ibu has not been flown abroad for medical treatment due to doctors deeming him unfit to travel. Currently admitted to one of Nigeria’s premier hospitals, Mr. Ibu is under the care of a dedicated team of healthcare professionals.
As the actor battles health challenges, the family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of concern and support, emphasizing the need for accurate information during this challenging time.
