Double Health Crisis Grips Nollywood as Mr. Ibu Undergoes Another Leg Surgery, Barely Talks Again, Amaechi Muonagor’s Health Deteriorates

Popular comic actor John Okafor, widely known as Mr. Ibu, has recently undergone another leg surgery, further complicating his health challenges. A month ago, one of his legs was amputated, and recent reports suggest that his condition has worsened to the extent that he now communicates sparingly.

Simultaneously, fears are escalating over the deteriorating health of veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor, who has been hospitalized at the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, Anambra State, for over two months.

Dr. Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), provided an update on the two ailing actors during a telephone conversation with our reporter. He expressed a sense of helplessness, stating, “As I speak with you, Mr. Ibu hardly talks again, and he has undergone another leg amputation.”

Rollas further emphasized the grim state of Muonagor’s health, noting that the actor’s legs are completely paralyzed. He called upon fans and well-wishers to unite with philanthropic Nigerians to support Muonagor during this challenging time.

In a compassionate gesture, Dr. Rollas approved a sum of N250,000 from the AGN Trust Fund to be sent to Muonagor’s account. However, he acknowledged that this might not be sufficient, considering Muonagor’s medical records with the Guild HMO and Insurance policy.

Rollas urged young actors to proactively enroll in the AGN HMO and Insurance programs, emphasizing the importance of securing their health and well-being.

Amaechi Muonagor’s cousin, Tony, had previously shared the actor’s health update on Facebook, revealing his battle against kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke. Muonagor is currently undergoing weekly dialysis and other treatments at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi.

As the Nollywood community grapples with these health crises, the support of fans, colleagues, and the broader public is seen as crucial to alleviating the challenges faced by Mr. Ibu and Amaechi Muonagor.
