Mayor of Atlanta Declares November 18 as ‘Davido Day’ in Honor of Renowned Nigerian-American Singer

In a resounding recognition of the cultural impact made by Nigerian-American music sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, Mayor Andre Dickens, along with the Atlanta City Council, officially declared November 18 as ‘Davido Day.’

The proclamation follows Davido’s headline performance at the A.W.A.Y Festival held at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, where the OBO crooner showcased his musical prowess and drew acclaim from a diverse audience.

Mayor Dickens, in a heartfelt birthday message to Davido on November 21, acknowledged the artist’s global influence in the music industry, stating, “You’ve captivated audiences worldwide, becoming a global icon. Thank you for your tireless efforts as a renowned singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate.”

The Atlanta City Council echoed this sentiment in an official statement, declaring, “We, the members of the Atlanta City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta, do hereby proclaim November 18, 2023, as Davido Day in the City of Atlanta.”

Notably, the recognition doesn’t stop at the city level. The Fulton County Board of Commissioners has also honored Davido by proclaiming November 21 as ‘Davido Appreciation Day’ in Fulton County, Georgia.

The Board’s statement reads, “The Fulton County Board of Commissioners recognizes David for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry. We hereby proclaim Tuesday, November 21, 2023, as ‘Davido Appreciation Day’ in Fulton County, Georgia.”

These declarations reflect Davido’s multifaceted impact, not only as an artist but also as a philanthropist and community leader, extending his influence beyond borders.
