“APC Will Take Over Abia in 2027, Not by Force but by Votes of the Masses” – Deputy Speaker Ben Kalu
Umuahia – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has assured that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not use federal government force to win elections in Abia State in 2027.
Speaking on Sunday in Umuahia while addressing members of Renewed Hope Partners and other APC supporters, Kalu emphasized that the party intends to dislodge the ruling Labour Party (LP) through the power of the people’s votes.
“We are not going to take over this State by force. Some people think we want to use federal government power, but no! We are going to use the votes of the masses,” Kalu said.
He urged Abia residents, particularly APC members, to obtain their voter cards during the ongoing continuous voters’ registration, describing them as crucial tools for “sacking the ruling Abia government in 2027.”
Kalu criticized the LP-led administration in Abia for underperformance, claiming that former governors Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu delivered more with lower FAAC allocations—about 3 to 4 billion Naira monthly—compared to the larger funds available to the current government.
He also expressed confidence that Abia voters are ready to re-elect President Bola Tinubu in 2027, citing the president’s achievements and the financial support he has provided to Abia and other states.
Addressing recent criticism, Kalu acknowledged that some individuals have insulted him for speaking truthfully about the state government but pledged to continue his role as “the leader of the opposition in the State.”
