Kano: Deputy Senate President Barau to Give N20,000 Each to 10,000 Less Privileged Residents

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, is set to distribute N20,000 each to 10,000 less privileged individuals across all 44 local government areas of Kano State.

According to Ismail Mudashir, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy Senate President, the selection process for the programme will begin on Thursday, October 9, with the distribution of application forms. The cash disbursement will be managed by the Barau I. Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), which has previously sponsored initiatives such as foreign postgraduate scholarships for indigent students in Kano State.

Under the programme, 6,500 beneficiaries will be drawn from the Kano North Senatorial District, with each of its 13 local government areas producing 500 recipients. The remaining 3,500 beneficiaries will come from the Central and South Senatorial Districts, with 112 individuals selected from each local government area.

Mudashir emphasized that the initiative is part of Senator Barau’s ongoing efforts to directly impact the lives of vulnerable citizens in Kano State. The Deputy Senate President has consistently supported projects in education, healthcare, agriculture, security, and transportation. Empowering women and youth remains a central focus of his initiatives, aimed at fostering development both in the North and across Nigeria.
