2027: APC’s performance is weakening opposition parties – Gov. Sule
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, says the strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not the result of opposition failure, but its own governance record.
Speaking on Channels Television’s *Sunday Politics*, Sule argued that the ruling party’s delivery in office has shifted political dynamics in its favour.
He said the APC’s record in government has set a higher benchmark, making it difficult for opposition parties to compete effectively.
“If anything is affecting the opposition, it is our performance. We are doing better than they anticipated,” he said.
The governor also expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid in 2027, linking it to ongoing economic reforms.
He said the President’s policies have had a positive impact on Nasarawa State and described the reform programme as a key reason for his backing.
Sule added that his political rise should not be attributed to a single sponsor, distancing himself from the idea of a traditional godfather relationship with former Governor Umaru Al-Makura.
According to him, Al-Makura supported his emergence but did not create his political career, noting that he already held a senior corporate position before entering public office.
“He supported my governorship ambition. But I was already a group managing director in a listed company. He mentored me in politics, not more than that,” he said.
