NDC Zones 2027 Presidential Ticket to South, North to Produce Candidate in 2031
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially zoned its presidential ticket for the 2027 general election to the southern region of the country.
The decision was adopted on Saturday during the party’s national convention following a motion moved by Afam Victor and seconded by Seyi Sowumi.
Party delegates also agreed that the NDC’s presidential ticket for the 2031 election cycle will be reserved for the north, reinforcing the party’s commitment to rotational leadership between the two regions.
In another resolution reached at the convention, delegates ratified all members of the party’s national executive committee. The motion was moved by Victor Umeh.
The zoning arrangement is expected to shape the party’s internal power structure ahead of the 2027 elections and provide clarity on its succession framework for future presidential contests.
