Allegations of Sexual Activities Rock Ibeku High School Premises, Alumni Demand Action
The Ibeku High School Old Boys Association has raised alarms over alleged moral decay within the institution’s premises. During a recent meeting in Umuahia, members of the association accused some students of engaging in illicit activities, including sexual encounters, inside undisclosed locations within the school grounds.
Former civil servant and National President of the Ibeku High School Old Boys Association, Ifeanyi Agbai, voiced deep concern over the reported deterioration of school discipline. He highlighted that certain members of the school’s management team were neglecting official duties during school hours, purportedly contributing to the lapse in supervision and discipline among students.
“We cannot allow our alma mater’s reputation to be tarnished any further,” Mr. Agbai declared, urging swift intervention from the Abia State government.
Mr. Agbai also called for the immediate redeployment of the school principal and any implicated officials, emphasizing the need for stricter monitoring and governance.
Echoing Mr. Agbai’s sentiments, former class heads including Idika Kalu (1977), Olugo Okorie (1985), and Gbaruko Okechukwu (1978) underscored the association’s commitment to restoring Ibeku High School’s prestige. They commended Mr. Agbai for spearheading efforts to address the alleged misconduct and restore order to their beloved institution.
However, in response to the allegations, a staff member of Ibeku High School, speaking anonymously, vehemently denied the accusations. The staff member refuted claims of lax management and student misconduct, asserting the school’s commitment to upholding moral standards and professional conduct.
The staff member also cautioned against politicizing the issue, urging the Old Boys Association to collaborate constructively with the school’s administration for the betterment of Ibeku High School.
