Man on the Run After Stabbing Girlfriend, Killing Her Sister, and Injuring Another
A violent incident in Umuahia South has left one woman dead and two others injured after an alleged attack by a local security operative.
The suspect, identified as Chinedu Anamelechi, is accused of killing his girlfriend’s sister, Ezinne Ariwodo, at Umuanga Amakama community. According to reports, he also stabbed his girlfriend and shot a young man before fleeing the scene.
Authorities say the motive for the attack is still unknown.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of Abia State Command, Maureen Chinaka, stated that officers responded promptly after receiving the report. They found the victim’s body at the scene with gunshot wounds.
The injured victims were taken to a hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Medical personnel confirmed Ariwodo dead, and her remains have been deposited in a morgue for autopsy.
Police also recovered items from the scene as part of ongoing investigations.
Chinaka added that calm has been restored in the community and urged residents to remain law-abiding while efforts continue to apprehend the suspect.
