Six Young Girls Found Dead on Farmland in Abia Community
Six young girls have been found dead on a farmland in Akirika Ukwu, Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State, in an incident that has raised security concerns across the community.
The matter was presented on Tuesday at the Abia State House of Assembly as a matter of urgent public importance by the representative of Ukwa East Constituency, Hon. Lewis Chinemerem Obianyi.
According to him, the bodies were discovered on Monday, March 23, 2026, dumped on farmland within the area. The discovery triggered fear among residents and disrupted daily activities, particularly farming.
Obianyi described the incident as deeply disturbing and called for a full investigation. He suggested that the manner in which the bodies were found points to possible ritual-related killings, and urged security agencies to act quickly to identify those responsible.
Lawmakers at the plenary condemned the killings and described them as a serious threat to public safety in the state. They called on the state government to direct security agencies to intensify investigations and strengthen surveillance in rural communities.
The House also urged residents to remain alert and report any useful information that could assist ongoing investigations, while assuring the public of continued efforts to improve security across the state.
