Supreme Court CTC: Wike Reportedly Orders Allies to Defect to APC
Nyesom Wike has reportedly instructed political allies in Rivers State to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the Supreme Court’s ruling on the PDP leadership crisis.
Sources familiar with the development said the directive was issued on Friday night, shortly after the apex court delivered its final judgment on the party’s internal dispute.
By Saturday, several loyalists were said to have begun obtaining APC nomination forms, signalling what could become a major political realignment in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.
A source close to the development said Wike had decided to reposition his political structure after the court ruling.
“The instruction was given on Friday night, and by Saturday, some of the candidates had already started picking up APC nomination forms,” the source said.
The move follows growing tension within the PDP after details of the Supreme Court judgment emerged.
A Certified True Copy (CTC) of the ruling, reportedly obtained by THISDAY on Friday, indicated that the faction aligned with Wike lost its bid for control of the party structure.
The report stated that the Supreme Court dismissed both the cross-appeal filed by Wike’s camp and the main appeal brought by the faction led by Tanimu Turaki, which is said to be aligned with Seyi Makinde.
However, the leadership dispute within the PDP remains unresolved.
Abdulrahman Mohammed rejected the circulating CTC, describing it as unofficial and lacking proper legal certification.
In a statement issued by the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Haruna Jagunda, the group argued that the document did not meet the requirements for an authentic court-certified judgment.
According to the statement, the pages of the document were not properly stamped, signed, or certified by authorised court officials.
The faction maintained that the Supreme Court judgment recognised Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary of the party.
