“Seek Forgiveness from Shettima, Work with Him to Promote Tinubu’s Agenda” – Senator Ali Ndume Tells Bwala
In a statement released on Saturday, Senator Ali Ndume, the representative for Borno South, called on Daniel Bwala, the newly appointed Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, to seek forgiveness from Vice President Kashim Shettima. Ndume’s request stems from Bwala’s departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC) following Shettima’s selection as Tinubu’s running mate in the 2023 elections, which Bwala cited as a reason for leaving the party due to Shettima being a Muslim.
Ndume, a key figure in the APC, encouraged Bwala to reconcile with Shettima and work alongside him to advance the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Tinubu’s administration. He expressed the importance of cooperation and unity within the leadership team, especially in light of Bwala’s new role within the government.
President Tinubu appointed Bwala to his advisory position on Thursday, a move that followed the appointment of several others to key positions within the administration. Bwala, previously a spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign, has now transitioned into the role of media and communications adviser to Tinubu. Ndume’s statement acknowledged the significance of Bwala’s appointment, describing it as a demonstration of Tinubu’s “large heart” for bringing on board individuals from diverse political backgrounds.
Furthermore, Ndume offered words of advice to Bwala, urging him to follow the examples set by loyal associates of Tinubu such as Sunday Dare and Bayo Ononuga, who have consistently defended the president’s policies in a respectful and non-confrontational manner. He also recommended that Bwala look up to figures like Hadiza Bala and Nuhu Ribadu, who promote Tinubu’s policies with factual backing.
“I urge you to learn from these individuals and to engage with grassroots communities, as true leadership starts at home,” Ndume said.
Finally, the Borno South Senator concluded by wishing Bwala success in his new role, while emphasizing the importance of collaboration within the administration and the need for harmony among key figures, especially between Bwala and Shettima, for the success of the Tinubu administration’s objectives.
