Sanusi Makes First Appointment Amid Emirship Tussle
In the midst of ongoing controversy surrounding the Kano Emirate, Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, has made his first official appointment since being reinstalled last week.
On Thursday, Emir Sanusi, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), appointed Hamisu Sani as the new Ward Head of Kofar Mazugal in Dala Local Government Area. The Emir urged Sani to promote peaceful coexistence among residents and contribute to the overall development of the state.
Earlier in the day, Emir Sanusi received delegations from various district heads and notable figures, including representatives from religious and market bodies. Among those paying homage were members of the Ansarulddeen Tijjaniyya sect and traders from Kano’s renowned Kantin Kwari textile market and Singer commodities market.
Sanusi’s reinstallation as Emir last Thursday followed the Kano State House of Assembly and Governor Abba Yusuf’s repeal and assent to the Kano State Emirates Councils (Repeal) Bill 2024.
