JUST IN: Police, SSS Block Access to Kano Emir’s Palace Amid Security Standoff
Armed police officers and operatives from the State Security Service (SSS) have surrounded the Kano Emir’s Palace in Kofar Kudu, effectively preventing anyone from entering or leaving the premises. The heightened security comes as Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is expected to escort the newly-appointed Wamban Kano, Munir Sanusi, to his posting in the district of Bichi. Police vehicles were seen blocking the main entrance to the palace, causing widespread concern and speculation. Authorities have yet to release a formal statement regarding the reasons behind the blockade.
