Kano: Emir Sanusi II Defies Siege, Holds Court Session Amidst Tensions
The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, defied a blockade by security operatives on Friday to preside over his routine court session at the palace. Dressed in full traditional regalia, the Emir carried out his duties with composure, accompanied by palace aides, even as the palace remained surrounded by security forces.
The Kano State Police Command has yet to release a statement explaining the siege, fueling speculation about escalating tensions surrounding the royal institution in the state.
Meanwhile, the Kano Emirate Council has remained silent regarding the Emir’s scheduled royal visit to Bichi for a planned event. It remains unclear whether he will proceed with the engagement amid the current uncertainty.
Sources from the Government House revealed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is currently on an official trip to India, leaving no immediate political intervention to address the unfolding situation.
