JUST IN: Labour Party Diaspora Chairman Resigns, Joins APC
Hon. Chike Amadichi, the Diaspora Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has announced his resignation from the party and his decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This high-profile defection comes at a time when six members of the House of Representatives have also moved from the Labour Party to the APC, signaling a notable shift in Nigeria’s political dynamics.
Amadichi, who recently returned to Nigeria from London, revealed that his decision was rooted in personal convictions and extensive consultations aimed at improving Nigeria’s leadership and political framework. In his resignation statement, he expressed gratitude to the Labour Party’s National Chairman, Barr. Julius Abure, for the opportunity to serve and champion the interests of LP supporters abroad.
Amadichi played a pivotal role in the Labour Party’s global outreach, establishing over 12 international chapters to strengthen the party’s influence. He emphasized his commitment to leveraging his international connections to attract foreign investments that could spur economic growth and national development in Nigeria.
In his statement, Amadichi affirmed his readiness to contribute to the country’s progress under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “I am joining the ruling party to offer my services to Nigerians under the able leadership of His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he stated.
He further explained that his resignation was a personal choice aimed at fostering better governance and aligning with efforts to meet the aspirations of Nigerians. Amadichi formally communicated his decision to Barr. Julius Abure, thanking him for the privilege of serving millions of Labour Party supporters worldwide.
