I’ll help Obi get LP presidential ticket if he fails in ADC — Baba-Ahmed
Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has said he would support efforts to secure the Labour Party presidential ticket for Peter Obi if Obi fails to clinch the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Baba-Ahmed made the statement during an interview on Trust TV, where he discussed emerging political alignments and Obi’s chances in the ADC.
He noted that he holds Obi in high regard and would be willing to intervene to resolve internal disagreements within the Labour Party to enable a possible return.
“I have much respect for Peter Obi. If he doesn’t get the ADC ticket, he should come back to the Labour Party please,” Baba-Ahmed said.
He added that he would actively support Obi’s bid within the party if the ADC option does not materialize.
“I will work for him and try to get him the ticket in the Labour Party. I will try and mend the ways between him and whoever he may have offended,” he stated.
Baba-Ahmed and Obi ran together on the Labour Party platform in the 2023 presidential election, where they emerged as one of the prominent opposition tickets in the contest.
