INEC releases final list for Osun governorship poll, PDP and LP Missing
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of candidates for the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) missing from the ballot.
In a statement issued on Friday, Musa Olurode, INEC’s public relations officer in Osun, said candidates from 14 political parties were cleared to contest the election.
The parties listed are Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressives Congress (APC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Action Peoples Party (APP), Boot Party (BP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Young Progressive Party (YPP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
Olurode said the publication of the final list follows the commission’s timetable and schedule of activities for the election.
He noted that only 14 parties met the requirements set by the electoral body.
According to him, the parties completed their primaries and uploaded the names and particulars of their governorship candidates and running mates within the stipulated deadline.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 8, 2026.
