Police Arrest ‘Daddy GO’, Wife, Others for Alleged Kidnapping Plot in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a General Overseer, Bishop Godfrey, along with his wife and several others, in connection with an attempted kidnapping in Agbarho, Ughelli North local government area.

Bishop Godfrey, whose church is located in Agbarho, was arrested at a hideout after learning about the detention of his wife, an assistant pastor, church elders, and other members of his first-generation church. The group is currently held at the Ughelli Police A’ Division, where military uniforms were also recovered during a search.

According to police reports, the detained bishop had allegedly sent threatening text messages to another bishop, whose name is withheld, demanding a ransom of N150,000 under threats of kidnapping and assassination. The victim initially transferred N100,000 but faced further threats due to the delayed payment of the remaining N50,000.

The threatening messages, written in Pidgin English, identified the sender as “Dust to Dust” from the Black Axe cultist group, demanding the ransom and warning of severe consequences if the payment was not completed. The messages included specific threats to the victim’s life and referenced past criminal activities.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, confirmed the arrests and the recovery of three army uniforms and over 20 SIM cards from the house of the General Overseer. “Investigation is ongoing to unravel the incident,” he stated.
