Families of Kidnapped Lebanese Nationals in Lagos Reject Police Assistance

In a developing story, the families, community, and close associates of four Lebanese nationals kidnapped on Friday in Lagos State have reportedly rejected police intervention, claiming they can secure the victims’ release without endangering their lives.

The kidnapping, which has sparked controversy, occurred in the riverine areas of the state. Conflicting reports suggest that the Managing Director of Fouani Company, a representative of LG and Hisense products, or one of his top managers and others were among the abducted.

The victims were ambushed while traveling by boat from Apapa to Victoria Island near Falomo Bridge. The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of $1.5 million, and negotiations are reportedly ongoing between the families and the abductors.

A source close to the victims’ friends hinted that a resolution might be reached by nightfall due to the progress made in the negotiations. Despite the families’ stance, police in Lagos State are actively working on the case. Detectives have been combing waterways and monitoring coastal areas, under the stern directive of Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, to ensure the victims’ safe return.

Efforts include spreading dragnets across neighboring states and following leads from a recently arrested notorious kidnapper, who was implicated in a separate abduction case. Police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin assured that authorities are “on top of the situation” and expect a successful resolution soon.
