Anambra Police Arrest Domestic Staff Who Killed Delta Bishop, Attempted Sale of Prado Jeep in Nkpor
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, has announced the arrest of a domestic worker accused of killing his employer, a Pentecostal bishop based in Asaba, Delta State, and attempting to sell the victim’s Toyota Prado Jeep in Anambra.
According to the police, the suspect served as the bishop’s driver and domestic aide. Investigators believe he worked with other accomplices, who are still at large, to murder the cleric before fleeing with the vehicle to Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area.
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, carried out the arrest during what the command described as an intelligence-led operation. Police also detained a second suspect alleged to have been involved in the attempted purchase of the stolen Prado Jeep.
The vehicle was recovered during the operation.
Police said investigations are continuing to identify and arrest other members of the group linked to the killing and to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.
Speaking on the incident, CP Orutugu urged residents to conduct proper background checks before employing domestic workers, drivers, and other household staff. He also advised the public to remain alert to suspicious conduct within their homes and workplaces.
The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and cooperation with other security agencies to strengthen public safety across Anambra State.
The statement was issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
