Police Arrest Gunrunner, Recover 375 Live Cartridges in Anambra
Anambra State Police have apprehended a notorious gunrunner, Felix Owaya, from Delta State, who is known for supplying arms and ammunition to criminal elements.
In a statement released by the Anambra State Police Command, spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga announced that Owaya was arrested in Onitsha.
The statement detailed, “On June 15, 2024, at 1:30 pm, police operatives from the Fegge division, while patrolling along Niger Street, arrested Felix Owaya, a 48-year-old male from Ika South LGA of Delta State. The operatives recovered 375 live cartridges from him.”
During interrogation, Owaya admitted that he was sent by an individual named Charles Ogboma to collect the ammunition from an unidentified man. The investigation is ongoing.
Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, praised the officers for their vigilance and determination. He also urged all personnel in the command to maintain their efforts in crime prevention and detection to ensure the safety of the state’s residents.
