PDP’s Umar Yusuf Emerges Victorious in Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency Rerun
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Umar Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the rerun election for the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency in Sokoto State.
The announcement was made by the INEC Returning Officer, Professor Abubakar Abdullahi-Bagudo, who confirmed that Umar Yusuf satisfied all legal requirements, solidifying his victory in the constituency.
Despite securing fewer votes of 2,249 in the rerun, Yusuf managed to outshine his rival, Abubakar Umar of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered a total of 3,741 votes.
In the initial election, Yusuf had already taken the lead with 24,792 votes against Umar’s 22,472, showcasing a consistent edge. The final results for the rerun consolidated Yusuf’s victory, with a total of 26,829 votes, while Abubakar Umar trailed closely with 26,113 votes.
