(JUST IN) Surulere Bye-Election: APC’s Fuad Laguda Emerges Victorious, Succeeds Femi Gbajabiamila (Full Result)
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced Fuad Laguda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Surulere Federal Constituency 1 Bye-Election.
The Returning Officer, Prof Simeon Adebayo, disclosed that Laguda secured a total of 11,203 votes, positioning him as the triumphant candidate in the hotly contested election.
Fuad Laguda, a former chairman of the APC in Surulere Local Government, will be stepping into the shoes of Femi Gbajabiamila. Gbajabiamila, who served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023, recently assumed the role of Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
Gbajabiamila, a staunch ally of Tinubu, resigned from the House of Representatives in June, leading to the declaration of his seat as vacant. This vacancy necessitated the bye-election in Surulere Constituency 1.
The full results of Saturday’s bye-election are as follows:
ADC: 40
APC: 11,203
APGA: 6
APM: 7
APP: 4
LP: 240
NNPP: 8
PDP: 278
