PDP Reveals Sponsors of #EndBadGovernance Protests, Urges Tinubu to Act
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the recent arrests of Nigerians by security forces. The criticism follows the apprehension of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Joe Ajaero, by the Department of State Services (DSS) at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
During a press conference in Abuja, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, called on President Tinubu to halt the crackdowns. Ologunagba further highlighted the cause behind the recent #EndBadGovernance protests, stating that “hunger” was the real sponsor of the demonstrations.
The protests, which took place across several Nigerian cities from August 1 to 10, were sparked by growing hardship in the country. Ologunagba criticized the government’s response, emphasizing that if the administration focused on addressing the economic challenges, there would be no need for such protests.
“There is need for caution,” he said. “The sponsor of these protests is hunger. The President and his team should tackle the hunger crisis, and the unrest will stop. Their policies are bringing people to their knees, especially as schools are resuming, and families are struggling to cope.”
