Full List: Tinubu Approves New Leadership Appointments in Education Sector

 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a series of appointments across key institutions under Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Education, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.

 

The announcement, issued by presidential adviser Bayo Onanuga, outlines changes affecting examination bodies, technical education, and national library administration.

 

Professor Modupe Adeola Adelabu has been appointed Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Examinations Council (NECO). The current Registrar, Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi, will remain in his role.

 

At the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Professor Babatunde Salako has been named Chairman. Meanwhile, Professor Idris M. Bugaje has been reappointed as Executive Secretary for a second and final five-year term.

 

The presidency described Salako as an experienced researcher with a background in higher education governance and public policy.

 

In Plateau State, Engr. Dr Bongfa Binfa has been appointed Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam, for a single five-year term. His appointment follows a completed selection process, with the statement highlighting his academic qualifications and administrative experience within the polytechnic system.

 

Additionally, Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi will continue as Director-General of the National Library of Nigeria after her tenure was renewed for a final five-year term. The government cited her role in ongoing institutional reforms, including efforts to modernise the library and advance its long-term strategic plan.

 

The presidency said the appointments are intended to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across the affected institutions.
