JUST IN: Ex-Super Eagles Striker Dies After Collapsing During Match
Former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramou has died after collapsing during a football match in Kaduna State.
According to SCORENigeria, Eneramo slumped while playing at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna on Friday. He was 40.
Reports said the former Nigeria international came on as a second-half substitute before collapsing without contact. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A source quoted by the outlet said efforts to revive him at the scene were unsuccessful.
Eneramo, who had retired from professional football, played for several clubs during his career, including Turkey’s Besiktas, Tunisia’s Esperance and Nigeria’s Lobi Stars. He was also reported to have been running a football academy before his death.
The Super Eagles paid tribute to the former striker on Friday, posting his photo on X with the message: “Rest in peace Michael.”
Eneramo was widely known for his contributions at club level and his time with Nigeria’s national team. Further details surrounding the circumstances of his death were not immediately available.
