Oyo Assembly To Elect 32-year-Old Ogundoyin Speaker Today

Barring any last minute change of plans, the Oyo state House of Assembly will today elect the member, representing Ibarapa East state constituency in the Oyo state House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin as the speaker of the ninth Assembly 
 Ogundoyin, 32,one of the sons of the late philanthropist and industrialist, late Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin was first elected to the Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on June 2, 2018 in a by-election following the death of the former speaker of the house, late Michael Adeyemo on April 27, 2018. 
He was reelected in the 2019 general elections. 
Ogundoyin is one of the four ranking members of the ninth assembly qualified to be elected speaker. Others are Wumi Oladeji who emerged on the platform of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Oyeleke Adebola and Ashimiyu Alarape who both were elected on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC). 
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has 26 members in the new Assembly,APC has five members while ADP boasts of one member. 
For the election of Speaker, Section 2 (3a) of the House rule stipulates that “a member-elect shall propose another member-elect with legislative experience as a member of the House of Assembly to be Speaker, and move that such member-elect do take the chair of the House as Speaker of the House of Assembly.”
Ogundoyin is favoured to emerge speaker based on party affiliation, zoning consideration and legislative experience as a returning lawmaker. He also enjoys the backing of the PDP in the state.
