Ogun Police Detain Husband, Wife Over Death Resulting from Market Square Altercation

The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Mba Moses and Florence Moses in connection with the death of 45-year-old Mark Kalu. According to a statement by SP Omolola Odutola, the Divisional Police Officer in Odeda, the fatal altercation transpired on October 8, 2023, at Osiele market.

Reportedly, the victim sustained fatal injuries during a heated dispute with the couple, Mba Moses, 50, and Florence Moses, 40, leading to the tragic demise of Kalu. Despite attempts by the Babaloja of Osiele and the Igbo Community Leader to mediate and reach an amicable resolution, their efforts proved futile.

In response to the report received at 7:00 am on Saturday, the authorities have taken the suspects into custody for a preliminary investigation. The spokesperson emphasized that the incident unfolded in the market square, and initial efforts to resolve the dispute peacefully were unsuccessful.

The deceased’s body has been transferred to the mortuary at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, awaiting autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation. The community is left in shock and mourning as the police delve into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident at Osiele market.
