The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the alleged assassination of one Gideon Ebukwe by unknown armed assailants at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro, located in the Sagamu Local Government Area. The incident was reported to the police at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, a group of five unidentified armed men arrived at the hotel and attacked Ebukwe, whose address remains unknown. At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, primarily women, were locked in another room while the assailants made their way to Ebukwe’s room.
In an attempt to flee, the victim reportedly broke through the ceiling but was chased by the attackers, who shot him dead before fleeing with his belongings. Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer led detectives to the scene. No arrests have been made, and the victim’s body was taken to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo for autopsy. The police are investigating the nature of the crime, including the possibility of it being cult-related. The case will be transferred to the Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
