Nigerian Army Crushes Terrorist Stronghold in Kogi, Seizes Large Cache of Weapons

Troops of the Nigerian Army have dismantled a terrorist camp in Kogi State, delivering a significant setback to a network linked to Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu. The operation, part of Operation IGBO IDANU I, was announced in a statement by the Army on Wednesday.

Led by Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, Commander of the 12 Brigade, the troops navigated dense forests, marshy terrain, and river obstacles to reach the camp. The Army said the advance involved dismounted troops moving on foot to gain tactical surprise, ultimately overrunning the enclave.

While the terrorists fled as the troops approached, a thorough sweep of the area resulted in the recovery of substantial weapons and ammunition, including eight boxes of 7.62 x 54mm linked rounds and one box of high-velocity grenades. The Army noted that these seizures have significantly weakened the group’s operational capacity.

The camp was subsequently destroyed to prevent reoccupation. Nigerian troops continue to patrol the region to disrupt any remaining elements and prevent regrouping.

The Army described the operation as a clear demonstration of its commitment to protecting communities, dismantling terrorist networks, and maintaining security across Kogi State.
