Kidnapped Woman Returns After Five Months, Pregnant Following Repeated Abuse by Bandits
A woman abducted from the Kasuwan Magani area of Kaduna State has regained her freedom after spending five months in captivity.
The victim was released two days ago following the payment of ransom, according to journalist Reuben Buhari, who shared details of the incident in a post on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
She was reportedly taken alongside three others after armed men invaded a home where she was caring for her critically ill mother.
During her time in captivity, she was held in a forested area, where she suffered poor living conditions, illness, and repeated physical assault.
Following her release, she was taken to a hospital for medical attention, where doctors confirmed she was pregnant. Medical findings linked the pregnancy to her time in captivity.
Buhari noted that she has indicated a desire to terminate the pregnancy, but the procedure has been delayed due to her fragile health. Medical staff are first working to stabilize her condition, including treating severe weakness and providing blood transfusions.
Her physical condition also reflects the hardship she endured, including swollen feet from prolonged movement without footwear.
The case highlights the ongoing risks faced by abducted civilians, particularly women, in prolonged captivity situations in parts of the country.
