Mohbad: Naira Marley Threatens N500 Million Lawsuit, Seeks Public Apology from Iyabo Ojo
Nigerian singer Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has taken legal action against Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, demanding a public apology for alleged defamation and libel. Naira Marley, through his legal counsel Olalekan Ojo, issued a letter dated December 12, accusing Ojo of spreading false and malicious content about him on her Instagram account.
Since the untimely passing of Mohbad, an ex-signee of Naira Marley’s record label, public attention has shifted towards the singer and his associate, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry. Iyabo Ojo has been at the forefront, advocating for justice for the late singer and accusing Naira Marley of being involved in Mohbad’s death.
Mohbad, aged 27, passed away on September 12 under mysterious circumstances, sparking controversies surrounding alleged bullying, assault, and threats from Naira Marley and Sam Larry. Prior to his demise, Mohbad had expressed concerns and attributed responsibility to his former boss for any harm that might befall him.
In response to the allegations, Naira Marley has vehemently denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death, insisting that the accusations of bullying or ordering harassment are false. The singer and his associates were arrested and later granted conditional bail.
In the letter issued to Iyabo Ojo, Naira Marley’s legal representative demanded a public apology to be published on Ojo’s official Instagram account and in a national daily within seven days. Failure to comply would result in legal proceedings seeking damages of N500 million and a court injunction preventing Ojo from making similar defamatory statements.
As the legal saga unfolds, the spotlight remains on the unresolved circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s tragic demise, with both parties standing firm in their positions.
