Labour Party Chairman Abure Accuses NLC Leaders of Stealing Workers’ Salaries During Party HQ Invasion

The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Comrade Julius Abure, has leveled serious accusations against the Joe Ajaero-led Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). Abure alleges that during the NLC-led invasion of the party’s national secretariat, funds designated for staff salaries were unlawfully taken, alongside other valuable items.

Abure condemned the invasion, labeling it as both shameful and an act of lawlessness. In a statement released by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, Abure emphasized the severity of the situation, denouncing the NLC’s actions as an abuse of office and a violation of the law.

According to Abure, properties worth millions of naira were destroyed, and funds intended for official purposes, including salary payments, were stolen during the siege. He expressed concern that such behavior undermines the achievements made by the Labour Party in the 2023 general election.

In response to these allegations, the Acting Chairman of NLC’s Political Commission, Professor Theophilus Udubuaku, dismissed Abure’s claims, labeling him as a “pathological liar.” Udubuaku highlighted the presence of law enforcement officers and journalists during the picketing, questioning the credibility of Abure’s accusations.

Udubuaku stressed that the NLC is not interested in engaging in a media battle with Abure, emphasizing the party’s commitment to its principles and objectives. The statement concluded with a call for the Nigerian media to refrain from further exacerbating the situation.
