Senator Nenadi Usman has been elected substantive National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) at the party’s 2026 elective national convention held Tuesday in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
Usman, who previously chaired the party’s Caretaker Committee, emerged through a consensus arrangement adopted at the convention.
Also elected was former House of Representatives member for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon. Acho Obioma, as National Secretary. Obioma, who currently serves as Special Adviser on Political Affairs to Abia State Governor Alex Otti, succeeds Senator Darlington Nwokocha, former Secretary of the Caretaker Committee.
Members of the newly constituted National Working Committee were also returned through consensus, according to outcomes of the convention.
