JUST IN: Tinubu Picks APC Nomination Forms for 2027 Re-election Bid
President Bola Tinubu has formally moved toward a second-term bid after the purchase of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the 2027 presidential election.
The forms, valued at N100 million, were obtained on Tuesday in Abuja by James Faleke, member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency and leader of the Tinubu Support Groups, acting on the president’s behalf.
The APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, presented the forms at a ceremony marking the opening of the party’s nomination process.
The development signals the start of Tinubu’s re-election effort within the ruling party, months ahead of the general election.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed January 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls will hold on February 6, 2027.
According to INEC, party primaries and dispute resolution are scheduled for April 23 to May 30, 2026.
Campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August 19, 2026, while campaigns for governorship and state assembly polls are set to start on September 9, 2026.
