JUST IN: Three Killed, Vehicles Torched as Unknown Gunmen Attack Convoy of Abatete President General (Video)
Chaos erupted in Abatete today as unknown gunmen launched a deadly attack on the convoy of Chief Ezebinobi Chimame Ezigbo, the town’s President General (PG). Three members of the Anambra State Vigilante Service, who were serving as his security detail, were killed.
In addition to the tragic loss of lives, two vehicles in the convoy were set ablaze during the attack. Chief Ezigbo narrowly escaped death but sustained injuries and has been rushed to the hospital. His condition remains uncertain.
Details of the attack are still emerging, but this incident adds to the growing tension in the region, linked to the enforcement of the sit-at-home order every Monday in protest of the detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
