Terror in Enugu: Gunmen Kill 3 Policemen at Checkpoint

Panic gripped residents of Achi, a community in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, after unknown gunmen launched a deadly attack at a police checkpoint, killing three officers on duty. The gruesome incident occurred near the busy Ozudaa Market, a location frequented by traders and commuters.

Eyewitnesses report that the gunmen, whose identities remain unknown, stormed the checkpoint in a sudden and violent assault, leaving no chance for the officers to defend themselves. The attack caused immediate chaos in the area, with residents fleeing for safety amid fears of further violence.

A disturbing video of the aftermath, which has since gone viral, shows the lifeless bodies of the slain officers lying in pools of blood, further fueling outrage and fear across the state.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, have so far been unsuccessful as calls to his line were not answered. As of the time of this report, the police are yet to release an official statement regarding the attack.

The motive behind the assault remains unclear, and investigations are expected to commence as security agencies move to restore order and apprehend those responsible.
