“It’s Best for Obi to Return to PDP Now, No One to Drag Ticket with Him” – Isaac Fayose Reacts to Atiku’s Resignation
Businessman and political commentator Isaac Fayose has sparked fresh political debate following his reaction to the alleged resignation of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a video shared on social media, Fayose celebrated what he described as “good news” for the party, claiming Atiku’s departure marks a turning point for the PDP and opens the door for a potential comeback by Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Fayose, in his typical candid style, expressed relief at Atiku’s reported exit, stating, “Good news! Atiku has finally resigned from PDP. I have been trying to suspend him for years, e nor go. Finally, baba don go.” He described Atiku’s repeated exits and returns to the party over the last two decades as a sign of desperation, saying, “Third time in 20 years. What a shame!”
According to Fayose, Atiku’s political ambition has stalled the PDP’s progress and disrupted internal unity. “Atiku’s ambition has grounded the party for too long. I don’t know whether he forgot something in the villa,” he said.
Fayose emphasized that the PDP can now reposition itself as a true opposition party and regain internal harmony, especially in preparation for the 2027 general elections. He argued that with Atiku out of the way, the party could now focus on leadership from the South and urged Peter Obi to seize the opportunity to return to the PDP.
“I hope Obi can come back to PDP now because they have got a lot of spread,” he said. “The Southerners will not have someone dragging their slot with them. The party will have peace now.”
