Paul Ibe Reveals Those Behind Leak of Atiku’s PDP Resignation Letter
Paul Ibe, spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has alleged that the leak of Atiku’s resignation letter from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was orchestrated by political actors working against his principal’s interests. Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Ibe pointed fingers at the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, as well as unnamed individuals within the PDP allegedly collaborating with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Ibe, the letter was part of private communication and was never meant for public circulation at this stage. He expressed disappointment that figures like Keyamo, who he said should be focused on aviation sector issues, were quick to comment on the matter. “It is unfortunate that the Minister of Aviation, who should be concerned with aviation matters—runways, infrastructure—would jump into this matter like someone who knows the cause of an accident before an investigation,” Ibe stated.
He went on to claim that “gross elements in the PDP working in cahoots with the APC” were responsible for the leak, further accusing them of intentionally undermining Atiku. The leak reportedly came shortly after Atiku’s condolence visit to the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State.
Amid the unfolding developments, Atiku is believed to be in discussions with a coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and is widely expected to run for president in 2027. If so, he could face competition in the ADC presidential primaries from former Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, both of whom have expressed interest in contesting.
